Imran Khan, the incarcerated founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is likely to be shifted to a hospital today after an ambulance and a team of doctors reached Adiala Jail to conduct an initial medical examination.
Severe Vision Loss Reported
According to jail sources, the former prime minister has reportedly lost around 85 percent of vision in his right eye. Eye specialists are expected to carry out a preliminary check-up before a final decision on hospital transfer is made.
Medical Report Sent to Punjab Home Department
Sources confirmed that an initial medical report has been forwarded to the Punjab Home Department. The report includes details of Imran Khan’s vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, blood sugar levels, and a clinical assessment of his eye condition.
Supreme Court Directives on Medical Care
The development comes in light of directives issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding proper medical examination and treatment of the PTI founder while in custody.
Government Decision and Medical Board
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated that the government has decided to shift Imran Khan to Al-Shifa Eye Hospital for treatment. He added that a medical board has been constituted to oversee his healthcare and that contact with his sons has also been facilitated.
Legal Proceedings Continue
Imran Khan has also filed multiple applications in the Islamabad High Court, seeking bail and suspension of his sentence on medical grounds in the Toshakhana-II and £190 million Al-Qadir Trust cases, alleging political victimisation.
